Capsule Geology

The Christa (Dako South) occurrence is located at an elevation of approximately 1350 metres on a southeast-facing slope, north of McDame Creek and approximately 2.5 kilometres southeast of Mount Haskin.

Regionally, the area is underlain by quartzite and quartz arenite sedimentary rocks of the Boya Formation and limestone, marble and calcareous sedimentary rocks of the Rosella Formation, both of the Lower Cambrian Atan Group, and limestone, slate, siltstone and argillite of the Cambrian to Ordovician Kechika Group. The sedimentary units have been intruded by granites of the Eocene Mount Reed stock.

Locally, gossanous and/or skarn zones host chalcopyrite, sphalerite and galena.

In 1997, a 1-metre chip sample (149819) from a 2-metre-wide gossanous limestone-quartzite contact zone hosting chalcopyrite, sphalerite and galena assayed 0.12 per cent copper, 1.00 per cent zinc and 31.1 grams per tonne silver, whereas a rock sample (149826) of gossanous skarn hosting chalcopyrite and sphalerite, taken a short distance south of the previous sample assayed 0.62 per cent copper, 0.17 per cent zinc and 29.6 grams per tonne silver (Assessment Report 25254).

Work History

In 1969, Brettland Mines Ltd. completed a 165.0-line-kilometre airborne magnetic survey on the area as part of the Krain Option property.

In 1996, Daniel W. Brett completed a program of geological mapping and rock sampling on the area as the Reed property.

In 1997, Demand Gold Ltd. completed a program of geochemical (rock and soil) sampling and a 14.0-line-kilometre ground magnetic survey on the Haskin Reed property.

In 2008, Pacific Bay Minerals Ltd. completed a 917.0-line-kilometre airborne magnetic and electromagnetic survey on the area as the Haskin-Reed property. The following year, a program of geochemical (rock, silt and soil) sampling and trenching was completed on the property.
